Helping with Scars

One of the great things I love about Rodan + Fields is seeing the amazing results customers/consultants share via Facebook.

Customers have submitted photos showing truly transformative results with their scars, like the help a consultant's daughter received with her facial dog bite.

The information shared says, "This little girl was bitten by a dog. After all the stitches and healing and even after 5 months of using a silicone gel recommended by her doctor to help minimize the scarring, you can see there was still plenty of visible scar left. Her mom, being an R+F biz owner, tried our products, and look at the results! This is why we say "changing skin, changing lives" and why I get so excited about these products. Look at that sweet face now! You'd have no idea she once went through so much trauma!"

A fellow consultant, Danita Able, shared her photos showing how Rodan + Fields products helped her after her skin cancer surgery.

Changing Skin, Changing Lives

This is a phrase that is often used among/about Rodan + Fields because so many customers and consultants have seen changes in their skin and lives after beginning with Rodan + Fields.

It's not unusual for a customer who has noticed changes in their personal skincare concern to have also noticed a little more self confidence and comfort when talking to others face to face.  They may no longer be as self conscious or concerned about those things they consistently notice and are positive others must also notice and be staring at!

It's also not unusual for consultants to find that beginning their own Rodan + Fields business has provided them with an opportunity to give to causes they hold dear. This month I'm taking advantage of that opportunity!

My cousin-in-law (and business partner) and I are donating all of our June Rodan + Fields income to a family that she knows who has had a year full of love, blessings, and challenges.

On June 29, 2014 a young family was blessed with the birth of their daughter Brooklyn.  She was born prematurely with gastroschisis and has spent her entire life in the hospital.  As the U.S. National Library of Medicine describes it, "Gastroschisis is a birth defect in which an infant's intestines are outside of the body because of a hole in the abdominal wall."

As you can imagine, the surgeries and past twelve months in the hospital have brought many challenges to the family including financial ones.  I'm very thankful that the blessing Rodan + Fields has become in my life affords me the opportunity to help the family of this adorable little girl!

You can find information about a special 1st birthday card shower, updates and pictures of this little cutie on the Facebook page Bridging Together for Brooklyn:  https://www.facebook.com/pages/Bridging-Together-for-Brooklyn/764688323595364?fref=ts

Are You Seeing Spots?

UNBLEMISH is clinically proven to combat the entire acne cycle. Utilizing multi-med therapy (using the right ingredients in the right formulation and the right order) it unclogs pores, clears acne blemishes, and calms your complexion.  It also includes a lightweight sunscreen.

The video below gives you an overview of this wonderful regimen.

Step 1 is a sulfur based wash that cleans out pores.

Step 2 is a choice of toners.  The clarifying toner unplugs the pores, and the spot fading toner prevents (and helps with existing) post acne marks.

Step 3 is a dual intensive system that combines the products just prior to application for maximum efficacy.

Step 4 is an oil control lotion with a broad spectrum SPF 20 that is specifically designed for acne prone skin.  It’s lightweight and reduces the appearance of oily skin.

It was rated Allure's #1 system two years in a row.  Combine it with the Macro-Exfoliator for even better results and savings!

It's a Little Bit Bumpy!

Have you ever noticed that some common skin conditions have not so nice nicknames?

Well, here's another one - Keratosis Pilaris: A common skin condition, also known as “chicken skin” or “goose flesh,” characterized by rough, bumpy skin on the upper arms and tops of the thighs.

It's nothing to be embarrassed about!  As you can read on the Rodan + Fields Derm RF site "40% of adults and up to 80% of adolescents" can develop this.

You can read more about it here:

Don't Be So Sensitive!

At some point in our lives, most of us will have sensitive skin.  We can develop rashes, blotches, sunburns, itchy, painful and/or stinging skin as a reaction to stress, products, or the elements. Rosacea and eczema can also make your skin sensitive.

As Dr. Kathy Fields says in the video below, “If everyone with sensitive skin held hands, they would circle the globe eight times”.  That is why Drs. Rodan and Fields developed SOOTHE to help repair your skin’s lipid barrier and bring you comfort.

The steps in this regimen: clean and soothe your skin; shields against biological and environmental triggers that can cause inflammation, breakouts, and aging; helps fortify your skin’s natural moisture barrier; calms visible redness; and has a mineral sunscreen that helps keep your skin cooler and calmer. All of this while containing no fragrance, alcohol, color or soap.  You can see in the pictures shared on the IRF Facebook page how the products have helped these two Preferred Customers.  https://www.facebook.com/rodanandfieldsiRF/photos_stream?tab=photos_stream

Don't Resort to Eenie, Meenie, Miney, Moe When Finding the Right Skin Care For You.

It's great that so many people are taking better care of their skin. Your skin protects you, so the least you should do is protect it!  But what should you use?

I've been fortunate enough to not need a dermatological consultation for sensitivity or acne, so when I began looking for skin care for my aging skin I didn't consider going to a dermatologist, I went to the store/counter and was overwhelmed by all of the options. I couldn't remember which advertisement promised what result, or what steps/products I should use, so I was very relieved that when I started to seriously look for skincare (high school reunion was getting closer) I was introduced to Rodan + Fields skincare.

My friend shared with me that these products were developed by two dermatologists who graduated from Stanford University School of Medicine, have over fifty years of combined experience, and had also created the incredibly successful Proactiv©. They currently have active practices in California (Dr. Katie Rodan is in Oakland, CA, and Dr. Kathy Fields is in San Francisco, CA) where they see and help their patients. They realized that for every patient who comes to their offices there are so many, many more people who go to the stores/counters (like myself) and try to figure out skincare for themselves based on commercials and ads.

They knew they could help, so they developed Rodan + Fields products to help with the most common skincare concerns: sensitive skin, sun damaged skin, acne, and aging (loss of firmness, wrinkles).

They even developed a Solutions Tool consultants like myself can use to help people discover which products would be best for their particular skin condition/concerns. I look forward to sharing information about the regimens and tools with you!

Hey lookey there, I got advice from two incredibly smart and talented dermatologists without making an appointment and you can also!

Are You Using Sunscreen?

I'm excited to share Rodan + Fields skincare information with you, and one of the most important ways to take care of your skin is to wear sunscreen. Using sunscreen is more serious than looks or comfort (ouch, ouch sunburn). Read this article from the Skin Cancer Foundation website to see how "people can spend long hours in the shade while still receiving quite a lot of sun exposure and risking skin damage."   http://www.skincancer.org/prevention/sun-protection/Shade

Believe me, it's something I wish I had known and followed decades ago before slathering baby oil on my very fair (never going to tan but always able to turn so many different shades of red) skin! Even if you don't think you've had much skin damage this post (although written a year ago) is definitely worth reading:  http://news.health.com/2014/05/05/10-things-you-dont-know-about-melanoma/

Now I hope you'll take a little over a minute to hear these tips from Mary Radford to find out "Which Sunscreen Should I Use" for your skintype:
